A 5.3 gal (20 L) pail is 400+ washes at the recommended dose. Per car, the gap between “cheap” small jugs and the pail turns out to be several-fold, and you only see it when you do the math per wash.
The formula is simple: pail price divided by the number of washes. The number of washes is the pail's weight divided by the dose per car. Everything else is marketing.
| Size | Yield | Price | Cost per wash |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.3 gal (5 L) / 12.8 lb | ~100 washes | $34 | ≈ $0.34 |
| 5.3 gal (20 L) / 45.9 lb | 400+ washes | $99 | ≈ $0.25 |
Both rows use list prices: $34 for the jug and $99 for a single pail. Wholesale accounts that order 4 or more pails a month pay $89 a pail, which brings one wash down to about 22 cents.
These ranges are recommendations. Within a range, you tune the ratio to your water hardness and the kind of grime: in winter stay near the stronger end, in summer you can move toward the leaner end.
| Equipment | Ratio | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Foam generator | 1:80 — 1:120 | The standard setup in a bay. The thickest foam for the least concentrate. |
| Proportional injector | 1 — 4% | Automatic dosing. Set the percentage for your water and soil level, and revisit it every season. |
| Foam cannon | 1:5 — 1:7 | Handheld. Not worth it at volume, since it uses several times more product, but handy as a backup. |
The biggest mistake when changing products is keeping the old setting. Concentrates differ in active content, and your old injector setting will almost certainly be off.
That's about 1:100 on a foam generator and 2–2.5% on an injector. Not at either extreme.
Watch two things: how dense the foam is, and whether film remains on the rockers and behind the wheels.
Runny foam or dirt left behind: go stronger. Everything clean: go leaner until results start to slip.
Recalculate your cost per wash after tuning, not before. The final ratio can differ from the starting one by 1.5–2x either way, and it's that ratio, not a number from a table, that sets your real cost per wash.

Hard water affects streaking more than cleaning power: the minerals stay on the body as it dries. The usual practice is to keep the mix near the stronger end of the range and never let the product dry on the car. If every car streaks the same way, the problem is almost always the water, not the chemical.
The formula contains corrosion inhibitors that help prevent rust. It's safe on metal, plastic, glass and chrome.
Foam dwell is 1–3 minutes, plus the pre-rinse and the final rinse. The real limit isn't the chemical, it's that the foam must not dry: in hot weather, wash in sections or under a canopy.
Yes: it's rated for cars, trucks, buses and SUVs. A semi naturally takes more than a car, so figuring a truck fleet's cost at 1.8 oz (50 g) per vehicle would be wrong.
Yes. Your first order can be one 5.3 gal pail at the wholesale price, so you can dial in the ratio before committing to the 4-pail minimum.
